Red Eyes with CVID
Posted by: Kristy (---.highlanddistillers.co.uk)
Date: December 20, 2004 10:27AM Does anyone get red eyes from time to time with CVID. I am finding for no apparent reason I wake up with really bad red eyes and it takes 1-2 days to go away. Am thinking this has something to do with my sinus issues but doctors don't seem to know the cause of them?? Can anyone help? Re: Red Eyes with CVID

Date: December 23, 2004 01:25PM Red eyes can be a symptom of sjogren's syndrome (dry eye) or blepharitis (improperly working oil gland of the eye). I have both. I would suggest that you get checked by a good opthamologist. In the meantime, try putting warm compresses on your eyes for 5 minutes and then massaging the area where the eyelids come together when closed. Move the warm, wet cloth from the inner eye to the outer edge of the eyelid. Do this several times a day and see if it helps. Melissa Re: Red Eyes with CVID

Date: January 04, 2005 12:27AM I have had dry eye syndome for a long time but this past few weeks it has been at it's worse. I am also battling the flu, sinus nfections, the whole 9 yards. I wonder if an allergy to the Christmas Tree is the cause yet I intentionally go out of the house to see if it helps-no change-maybe it is the heat? I live in CT. Any suugestions would be appreciated Re: Red Eyes with CVID

Date: March 08, 2005 02:19PM First what is CVID? I have been getting red eye for the past 3 years. I have been to an eye hospital and my doctors but I cannot get a simple answer to what it is. It is ually the left eye. Firstly I get a small red dot in the corner of my eye (near the nose) then the eye starts to go redder each day, usually lasts for a week. I use Optrex or Tear drops. I am fed up now cause it is happening at least every couple of months. The eye is not painfull. My right eye has only had this problem twice. Re: Red Eyes with CVID

Date: June 01, 2005 06:02PM I have CVID as well as dry eyes. My optometrist told me that tear production is an immune-mediated process. He suggested Systane over-the-counter to combat dryness. He also mentioned that there is an immune modulator used in veterinary medicine that may work well for "dry eye syndrome," but it's not available yet for use in humans. Kristy, I agree with Melissa above: there are many other possibilities, some that have nothing to do with CVID, and a visit to optho is in order. Donna, your note seems to imply that you have not been diagnosed with CVID. The chances that you have Common Variable Immune Deficiency is unlikely if your only sign is red eyes. CVID usually presents with a series of unusual bacterial infections; for example, I had 8 pneumonias in an 18-month period. Best, everybody. David Re: Red Eyes with CVID

Date: April 06, 2006 05:56AM I've been getting red eyes a lot lately. I just assumed it has to do with allergies. I never thought it may have something to do with my CVID. Come to think of it, I started having problems with blood shot eyes after my first gamma infusion. Post Edited (06-04-06 06:01) Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
