IgG subclass combinations

I have an IgG Deficiency. I'm deficient in subclasses 1 and 4. I know that this combination of deficiency is uncommon but I'm looking for someone who could tell me the percentage of frequency that this combination occurs. Thanks so much.

Mandy,
My 7 yo son also has that combination! I have yet to find anyone else with it. He started as deficient in just IgG4. But a year later he is now deficient in IgG1 also. I havent found much or should I say any articles or such on this combo. If you want to talk and we can exchange whatever info we get that would be great!

Melissa

I just thought I would let you 2 know that there is a wonderful website with a more active board. It is the immune deficiency foundation. You should be able to find it using your search. It is based out of the United States so if you are from the US you can get all kinds of info, from doctors to hospitals and such. There are alot of people on there with all different kinds of immune deficiencies. Hope you guys get some info I havent had any luck with the IgG1 and 4 deficiency (finding anyone else with that exact combo). But anyway they are a great group willing to help and give or find info for you!

Ray: We just found out that our 7 y/o daughter, Olivia is IgG1 deficient too. What have you heard about this type, please? I have also heard that it is the rarest one too. Especially for children. Also, have you had any IVIG therapy? Olivia is supposed to start soon.....Please respond if possible. Jackie

I just signed up for this site, and I know that these threads are old, but I thought I would just say that I am 49 and have had IgG1 and IgG4 deficiency problems for 5 years. Usually IgG pairs are 1 and 3, or 2 and 4. 1 and 4 is rare and my doctor said they are not even sure what 4 does. I have been told that IgG1 is about 70% of our immune system and IgG4 is about 10%. Don't know what it all means, but my doctors, and there are many, just say "You're complicated" when I am sick with no explanation and get sick even though I get IVIG treatments and am always on antibiotics. Not to mention all the pills I take for the other symptoms of immune deficiency. Anyway, you're not alone. I also am a 1 and 4.

I have Selective IgA Deficiency and Hypogammaglobulinemia for IgG subclasses 1 and 3. I have NEVER gone more than 10 days without an infection and am always am antibiotic! I am tired of explaining to physicians about my condition! One example is that I recently rented to my Endodontist for a root canal. I had suffered from Septicemia from a previous root canal...and the Hospital had never informed this dentist of this! I told him about he experience, and instead of trying to look into the situation, he was flippant and told me, "in my 34 years of Practice, I have never had anyone develop Septicemia!" I was very angry! It is almost impossible to find a Physician that will listen to me, or that is familiar with my condition! I am tired of going through this repeatedly! Only 20 years ago, I was immediately admitted to a hospital and put on I.V. antibiotics when I had an infection, and I quickly recovered. Now I have to fight to get an antibiotic shot and am terribly frustrated! What to do?

I just found out that I am IgG 4 deficient. The other subclasses are normal. I also have almost no IgM's (13). I was also told that they don't really know what IgG4 does. I also am not showing a very good response to the tetanus vaccine. It went really high for a short time after revaccinating (>7.00) and now 4 months later it's down to 1.77. I'm supposed to go back in 4 months to check it again.
