I have very difficult Iv access. I am in a wheelchair due to caudia equina symdrome I have a supapublic cathera and in a few more week I will be having a bag. I am on my second port after the first one block when I will have Iv antibolitics it was slow I suggested go and seeing to doctor to have a drug unblock it the District Nurse it was fine and not to worry. 6hours later it was totally block and had to be remove. The second went in on October 4th 2005, It didnot want to give blood for the monthly blood test so they did a dye study to see why? I person who administrated the drug contrasting dye have sweat pouring off him and he was pushing so hard I think he damaged the cath. Yesterday the District Nurse access the cath to do the hep lock which is done every 3 weeks to prevent blocking. and I was so pain and I when to the hospital who said it needs to come out again after another dye study. and I can not put another in my question is why can they not put another? and how many time can it be done? I have had a av fustler shunter and 9 central lines and 10 pick lines and Iv lures god knows how many. I feel like a pin cushion.

I know how it feels to be like a pin cushion. I also have a port acath..so far i havent had any serious problems with it. the only problem ive had is i accidently hit it the other day and it caused my port to shift and i have a little discomfort. i had it looked at though and everything is fine and dandy.
It sounds like you have had quite the rough time with them.
