multiple infections
Posted by: curiousmom (---.sc.res.rr.com)
Date: January 12, 2006 02:50AM I am the mom of a 7 yr old girl. Since birth she has had constent infections. Usually upper resp. she has also had some big ones like bacterial menengitis, staph in her femur, staph in her arm, staph in her ear. We have had every work up known to man. So far all we have found is elevated levels of IGM and low lymhocyctes. We are currently seeing a doctor at duke. Her ped. thought she might have hyper IGM, however those patients usually have low Iga with high IGM, my daughter does not. We are waiting on results of a bacteriophage study, and if those are normal they have no anwers for us. Does anyone have any suggestions? Re: multiple infections

Date: June 06, 2006 03:37AM Check the World Health Organization REport on the Primary Immunodeficiencies to see if low IgA is a required diagnostic element for hyper IgM. If not, the diagnosis qualifying for IVIG therapy may not hinge on the results of bacteriophage studies. I think you can download the WHO report from the Immune Deficiency Foundation website. Date: December 20, 2007 05:26AM Have they checked for hyper IgE (Job's syndrome)? This is what my daughter has. Symptoms are frequent infections, especially skin infections, bone problems, excema and allergies. Leisa Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
