Swollen spleen
Posted by: FuzzyBunny95531 (---.dhcp.crsn.ca.charter.com)
Date: November 01, 2006 08:48PM I've been rxed with CVID for about a year now and have been getting treatments since Feb. My doctor noticed that my spleen was enlarged and its been occasionally causing me pain. Mainly during intercourse. Is there anyone out there that has had or is having the same problem? Any advice on how to deal with this issue? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/02/2006 02:40AM by FuzzyBunny95531. Re: Swollen spleen

Date: November 09, 2006 04:44PM I have dealt with this a few times. Unfortunately I dont have any tips on how to deal with it. All i can offer you is the comfort that it happens a lot in CVID cases. I wish I could offer you more. Re: Swollen spleen

Date: November 22, 2006 06:33AM Hi,
My husband has also had a swollen spleen and there really is not a true way to deal with it, its a part of CVID and your spleen is enlarged because its the only part of your true emune system that is working. Its swollen because its working over time and its doing its job. We have found that staying away from caffeen is helpful with keeping it down. Sorry its late and im a bit tired so excuse the sp errors. I wish I had more answers for you. Re: Swollen spleen

Date: January 15, 2007 05:56PM Not sure if anyone will go back and read this, but I have an enlarged spleen as well. It happened in 2003, I noticed it and went to the doc. I had mono, after a month it didn't go down in size so I saw a hematologist. I had mono in my blood for about a year, with the spleen being enlarged so were many many lymphnodes. I had a PET scan and my doc thought I had lymphoma, I had a couple surgeries and everything was negative.
Fast forward three years, I still have an enlarged spleen and lymphnodes and it is all because of CVID. Now as I understand we CVID patients have an increased risk for lymphoma, so keep an eye on that stuff. It is all connected. By the way interesting info on the caffeine thing, I'll have to keep that in mind. I will note that if I have a lot of carbonated beverages (ie get bloated) it is a lot more uncomfortable than normal, but for the most part I don;t notice it. Re: Swollen spleen

Date: January 09, 2008 08:49PM We were told Shelbie had a large spleen years ago . Found out reading up on CVID that is not unusual. She is only 13, too young for intercourse, but has no pain as far as I know. We were told this before she was diagnosed. Doesn't seem to bother her.
