leg swelling
Posted by: Leah (---.hsd1.fl.comcast.net)
Date: January 16, 2007 06:36AM I was diagnosed back in September 06 as having a PID. They don't know which one it is yet because I'm in the process STILL of being sent to a better hospital since my area is pretty clueless when it comes to anything medical. we do know that I have two low subclasses of IgG and I'm high in IgE and IgM. Lately, I've been gaining weight...I'll hardly have anything to eat and I'm still exercising and when I do eat I try to eat healthy and regularly, but regardless I 've been gaining weight, a lot of weight. A good 10-15 pounds in the past few weeks. I finally noticed some serious swelling in my legs, looks like it's from the knee down. I propped my legs up really high and wore some surgical support hose that my Mom wears for her Vericose Veins and I weighed myself before and after...once the swelling went down I'd lost 5-6 pounds.
Does anyone else have swollen legs or ankles as a symptom of their PID? I'm not overweight or pregnant and I don't have vericose veins or poor circulation or anything else that could be causing this so I'm wondering if it can be a symptom of PId. Please let me know! Thanks! Leah Re: leg swelling

Date: February 10, 2007 05:13AM maybe try elevating your legs from time to time and see if that helps lessen the swelling a little bit Re: leg swelling

Date: March 03, 2007 01:09AM Have the Dr. check you albumin levels. This protein controls how well your circulatory system retains fluid. If it is low, that might explain why so much swelling is occuring. Elevating your legs also helps as well as walking. Re: leg swelling

Date: April 19, 2007 10:53PM I know that IVIG is hard on your kidneys. You must drink lots of water and please please find a good doctor even if you have to drive an hour or two. I know when I was pregnant my legs swelled and my blood pressure was high they had to induce. So I know that that is not healthy. Get to a good doctor and get it taken care of now.
