CVID and weight loss

Hello everyone,
I am 25 years old patient diagnosed witg CVID about 8 years ago. Before diagnosed, I had already problems with stomach, gastritis and lactose intolerance was found. I have almost none IgA and IgM and low level of IgG. Never had any serious infection.
I get IVIG substitution, but with very bad experiences. I always suffer from catarrh, strong backaches, several times vomiting and even problems with breathing. Last month I almost fainted during the procedure.
About two years ago, antibodies against IgA were found in my blood sample. After that, Endobulin brand was replaced with GammaGuard, which is slightly (but really slightly) better. I am becoming desperate. In contrast to many of you, I do not see any improvement after the procedure, the bad state rather persists sometimes for several days.
What I want to ask: I am also (and always been) very lean. Is this typical for some patients? Is there anything I can do to change at least this problem? Also, did anyone tried some drugs that are said to improve immune functions like zinc ar selenium?
Thank you for any replies!

I was diagnosed 15 years ago. When the CVID started I weighed 235 now I weigh 170 and can not gain a pound. My stomach lining has been affected but lactose milk, ice cream and a gluten free diet seem to help. (Seems like I eat cardboard!) Pleae feel free to e-mail me t bob.everett@eg-engineers.com

Hi my name is Laura and I live in Texas. I have been Rx with CVID since August 2006. I started with the IVIG September and every month after that. I always took a benadryl and two Tylenol half an hour prior to infusion. My Mom is a nurse and that is what she told me to do. I am now doing Sub-Q last week was my first time and I just finished second. You have to do this weeking. It is a self injectible and I don't even need a nurse here. I really like it. It is so easy. I was recently told that the proteins in the IG infusions boosts our metabolism so you will notice yourself getting the munchies or loosing weight. I noticed my stomach and intestines have improved since getting IG infusions. I hope the same will happen for you. I am actually doing fabulous just think positive and be strong.

What is the advantage to Sub-Q versus infusions? I also live in Texas, and my Id doctor never mentioned the Sub-Q form. I lost weight before I was diagnosed two years ago, and I would like to stay about five pounds above that weight, as I have never been that thin in my life, but I don't want people to say I look haggard. Do you find that you bloat in your stomach much after you use the Sub-Q, and what is the dosage, as I am on a very high dose--800mg/kg. Do you take this much? My IgG was very low--the lowest my doctor had seen, he said..
