CIDP?
Posted by: melissa (---.cable.mindspring.com)
Date: September 06, 2007 06:22PM Could this be CIDP? i have tingling and burning over most of my body and sever pain in my lower spine into my privates. A spinal tap showed elevated protein. Blood tests showed positive ANA and a lower than normal level of immunoglobulin. All other tests came back normal.
I did have an abnormal NCS a few years back which my doctors never even bothered to repeat this time. I feel they are missing this diagnosis. Since they cannot figure it out they are concluding this is in my head! Has this happened to anyone else??? Re: CIDP?

Date: July 12, 2008 02:49AM You need to see a neurologist and have a nerve conduction study. In the past, diagnosis was confirmed by a nerve and muscle biopsy but this is not advised today. The important thing is for you to be diligent in finding a neurologist who is familiar with CIDP and has treated this before...and get on medication before you have permanent nerve damage. Neurologist specialize within that field and you need to make sure you have one familiar with CIDP and not specializing in Multiple Sclerosis or something else.
Again...you can have immune globuin at home. You do not have to do it in the physician's office. They may say you do but you do not. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
