IPOPI organised its first EU PID Forum at the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday 15 June. The forum was hosted by Glenis Willmott (S&D, UK), Member of the European Parliament, and focused on SCID Newborn Screening . Participants in the workshop included IPOPI representatives and other key opinion leaders on SCID newborn screening, such as leading physicians, researchers and industry representatives. The meeting yielded very successful outcomes. The key recommendation of the workshop is that the European Union and its Member States should consider SCID a paediatric emergency and introduce SCID in the obligatory list of diseases newborns are screened for on a routine basis.
