PLUS Dublin Consensus Meeting 2012
PLUS, the Plaftorm of Plasma Protein Users, organised its 3rd Stakeholders consensus meeting in Dublin, Ireland on 12-13 January. The meeting was once again an excellent opportunity to discuss issues and developments on access to care for patients living with a rare plasma related disorder. The meeting’s theme was “Perspectives on Sufficient Supply of Plasma Proteins/Products”. After presentations from participating organisations including the Marketing Research Bureau, the World Federation of Hemophilia, IPOPI, the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association, the International Plasma Fractionation Association and the US Food and Drug Administration, discussion sessions were held during which a new PLUS statement was agreed. The new draft statement outlines a series of strategic considerations agreed by participants aimed at optimizing the supply of PDMPs. Participating organisations now have until April 30 to formally endorse the statement and communicate their organisations’ decisions. It is planned as in previous years to submit the statement for publication in a major scientific journal. The two previous statements had focused on the collection and provision of blood components and plasma derived medicinal products (PDMPs).
