New Zealand announces implementation of SCID newborn screening for 2017
The New Zealand Health Minister, Jonathan Coleman, announced on 7 November 2016 the implementation of newborn screening for severe combined immunodeficiencies (SCID) by mid-2017.
The campaign has been led by Dr Jan Sinclair and counted with the collaboration of New Zealand paediatric immunologists, PID patients and IDFNZ, IPOPI national patient organisation.
New Zealand will be joining the United States, Israel, Norway where SCID newborn screening is already a reality.
