Member States approve European Reference Network for PIDs
European Member States approved on December 15 the proposal for a Rare Immunodeficiency, Autoinflammatory and Autoimmune (RITA) European Reference Network. IPOPI was one of the organisations collaborating since the inception on this proposal which, unites under the same network specialised centres in Europe dedicated to primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) and other autoinflammatory and autoimmune disorders.
The RITA ERN has been amongst the 23 proposals approved by the European Member States, out of 24 applications received. In total, it represents more than 370 hospitals and almost 1000 specialised units from 26 countries (25 Member States and Norway). RITA is led by Prof Andrew Cant, from Newcastle Hospital and ESID current President. Johan Prevot, as Executive Director of IPOPI is representing PID patients views since RITA's inception.
The European Reference Network Kick-off meeting will be taking place in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 9 and 10 of March 2017. IPOPI will be participating at the meeting and inform on the outcomes shortly afterwards.
