News From IDF Denmark
On March 16, 2009 the Danish Immunodeficiency Association celebrated its 25th Anniversary.
The day was marked on Saturday March 7, 2009 with a "Seminar on PID". Our friends amongst the Danish immunologists were invited to speak. Not only about the present time and the prospects for the future, but also about the "very beginning" of diagnosing and treating patients in Denmark.
It is interesting to note that the first group of parents who started the association, all had children with CGD (chronic granulomatous disease). 14 parents met with Maj-Lis Hellström from Sweden and some doctors in the University Hospital of Copenhagen in the very first Annual General Meeting. Since then IDF, Denmark, includes more than twenty different PIDs.
During our celebration we had 64 participants (parents, patients, doctors and nurses), all enjoying the lectures during the day. We also were very lucky that all former and present chairpersons could attend, and tell a little about their time and deeds as chair.
The day ended up with a dinner! - so much for the adults!!!
The children had their own "25th Anniversary Reception" on April 17, 2009 during our Annual General Meeting.
IDF, Denmark invited all the children to the "LEGOLAND" amusement park, and when they came back to the hotel in the late afternoon they entered a PARTY!
All the members of IDF, Denmark received a T-shirt with logo and "www.idf.dk". This was paid for by The Braedstrup Humanitarian Association. The LEGO factory provided age-relevant gifts to all the boys, and "Build A Bear" gave all the girls some new clothes for the bears.
Then we had "drinks" and canapées in bulk - this was a great party for the children! |
