Awareness in Germany

Together with the immunodeficiency policlinics the German group DSAI organized 4 school events in Berlin and Munich.

Actually we planned just one event in each city, but after we sent out the invitations, all places were fully booked within a week. So we decided to offer the schools two alternative dates. Altogether over 1500 pupils went to these events.

Prof. Dr. Wahn, Berlin, and Prof. Dr. Belohradsky, Munich gave a talk on the immune system as it works and what happens if one has fallen ill with a PID.

The second part was the topic AIDS/HIV. This was also very interesting for the pupils.

Every pupil got the DSAI cartoon “Immun im cartoon”. This was a big help to understanding what is going on in the human body.

At the end there was the opportunity to ask the Doctors questions about this themes – and there were many questions!

The pupils were very interested and the teacher asked DSAI for more events like this.

So we have started to organize more regular school events in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and Leipzig in 2009.
